- What if your workspace is the real block?
What if your workspace is the real block?
Sometimes it’s not your motivation - it’s your environment.
I sat down to write this newsletter on Tuesday morning.
Two hours blocked out. Coffee made. Cursor blinking.
But nothing came.
Even with a list of ideas ready to go - I just couldn’t start.
I tried all the usual tricks:
Music. Window open. Snack. Move around.
Still nothing.
So I spiralled:
Why am I even writing this?
Who’s this really for?
What’s the point?
Classic solo-founder spiral.
So I left the house, went for a walk.
Still stuck.
When I got back, I looked around my home office - and it hit me.
The space I was trying to work from felt heavy.
Messy, not in a dirty way - just overloaded.
Stacks of notes. Studio gear. Lights. Cables. Mic stands.
A space trying to be too many things at once.
And I realised - I’d been treating my space the same way a lot of solo-entrepreneurs treat their brand.
Trying to be the expert. The content creator. The strategist. The operator. The coach. The office manager.
All at once. In one container.
And it wasn’t working.
In trying to be everything, it was supporting nothing.
So I cleaned. And then I kept cleaning.
A quick tidy turned into a 3-hour reset.
The studio lights I never used? Gone.
The blackout blind? Let the light back in.
The podcast gear I kept “just in case”? Packed away.
The camera setup that felt impressive but never quite worked? Replaced by my laptop webcam.
And just like that - the mental fog lifted.
I didn’t just clear my space.
I reset my thinking.
I made decisions.
I simplified.
I let go of “someday” and focused on what matters now.
Here’s the thing
Your environment - physical, digital, mental - either helps you move or keeps you stuck.
And that same mess shows up in the brands I work with too.
Mixed messages. Unclear offers. Doing too much and saying too little.
If your brand or business is trying to be everything - it’s probably doing nothing well.
That’s what I’m helping more coaches, founders and athletes do right now:
Strip things back. Create clarity.
Build with intention.
A Thought to Leave You With
If you feel like you’re stuck…
Maybe it’s not you.
Maybe it’s the space you’re building from.
If this hit a nerve, reply and let me know - I’d love to hear what space you’re working from, and how you’re shaping it.
That’s it for this week.
See you next Thursday.
Keep building,
A
